Lee Health’s Skilled Nursing Locations Are Nationally Recognized for High-Quality Care

From Leslie Vollmer, Senior Administrator of Skilled Nursing Services & Post Acute Intake and Business Development for Lee Health.

Skilled nursing units and facilities are a critical part of health care.

The unique setting allows for seamless patient transitions while also providing the amenities, services, and comfort of the hospital.

At Lee Health, we are proud of the high-quality care we provide our patients at our three skilled nursing locations. We were recently recognized for this level of care at a national level.

Gulf Coast Medical Center Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) has earned the 2022 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award from American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The local facility was one of only 14 in Florida and 180 across the U.S. to achieve this award.

Additionally, HealthPark Care and Rehabilitation Center was just recognized with the 2022 Silver AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award. It’s one of only 6 facilities in the state and 46 in the country to earn this honor.

These recognitions are possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, a comprehensive organizational assessment and recognition program for long-term care providers. Each application is reviewed and judged against a set of nationally recognized standards for achieving excellence.

All three of Lee Health’s skilled nursing locations hold national awards from the program. In addition to the newly-earned Silver Award, HealthPark Care & Rehabilitation Center received the Bronze award in 2020. Lee Memorial Hospital’s skilled nursing unit also earned the Bronze in 2021.

Skilled nursing units and facilities are very beneficial for patients who may be recovering from a variety of medical conditions, like joint surgery, a stroke, heart surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or others. The goal of a skilled nursing location is to help patients with their rehabilitation and prepare them to return to the community.

These recent recognitions really reflect our commitment to provide quality care for patients who require skilled nursing care and rehabilitation outside the hospital setting.
